151. What is louder and more annoying: 200 adults talking or one four-year-old screaming?
The latter, definitely.
152. Do you believe the stories about planes, boats and people mysteriously disappearing into the Bermuda triangle?
I don't know enough to say. To say you believe something, means you have enough knowledge to think you know, and I don't even know that much.
153. Who are you the most jealous of?
People with an honest-to-goodness talent.
154. What is the happiest way you can start your day?
Chris coming home and not bitching about his day at work before he's even all the way in the door.
155. Do you ever have moments where you feel like everything is all right in the world?
Yes. Most are with Chris, watching movies and fist-bumping at the best lines or long conversations which are why we can't sleep together (we'd never shut up and never get to sleep and be all bent out of shape the next day), some are with Fizzy, having awesome conversations, and there have been times with family, just sitting around the living room talking, no TV and sometimes no radio even. I always enjoyed those.
156. Who thinks that you are offensive?
Homophobes and religious zealots.
157. If you had to teach a class in something, what would you be able to teach people?
I could teach crochet, or loom knitting.
158. Have you ever had a spiritual experience (an experience that cannot be explained by science)?
Nope.
159. Do you believe that this experience was truly mystical or do you think there is some scientific explanation for it, only you don't know what it is?
There are explanations for everything, even if those explanations aren't known yet. And some religious experiences can be replicated in a lab.
160. Do you get offended easily?
Not by cusswords or nudity or that sort of thing, but I get offended by non-inclusive language and actions.
161. Would you still love and stay with your significant other if he or she had to have a breast or testicle removed?
Of course. We are more than the sum of our parts, after all.
162. Do you believe in fate or free will?
Free will. No evidence for fate, unless you think time is an unchanging river, flowing inevitably into only one future.
163. Do you believe that only boring people get bored?
No.
164. Can life change or are we all stuck in vain?
This is a rewording of question 162. *eyeroll*
165. What changes are you afraid of?
Sudden deployment or PCS orders. Freak accidents. Random injuries or illnesses.
166. Are you a day person or nocturnal?
Nocturnal, but I wish I could be a day person.
167. What one CD could you listen to for an entire week (no mixed CD’s, it must be an album)?
Hm...probably Zoom by Electric Light Orchestra.
168. Which is worse, working in retail, food service, or an office?
I'd say food service. I've done retail and food service, and I'd like an office job. Retail was nice, food service was alternately fun and shitty.
169. What's the coolest job you ever had?
It wasn't particularly cool in the conventional sense, but my favorite job was cashiering at a grocery store back in Sarasota. It was low-stress (except for the boy who would close the office area and wouldn't let me go to the bathroom before he left and that was a Big Fucking Deal) and I liked nearly all my co-workers, and I got to get to know lots of regular customers.
170. What is one central idea that your thoughts seem to come back to?
Things can get a lot better, but they won't unless they can be made profitable for the super-rich.
171. Have you ever wanted to be an actor/tress?
Sometimes. Not often.
172. If you had the power to control one person and make this person do anything you wanted for a whole day, who would you pick and what would they do?
I'd want this for sometime in 2009, and I'd make Barack Obama grow a spine and rally the Democrats to pass truly progressive legislation and use the majority they were given in 2008. More stimulus money to go to infrastructure, food stamps and programs like Head Start. A universal health care scheme that everyone gets opted into at birth or naturalization but can be opted out of in favor of private insurance. Strong environmental legislation backed up by strong enforcement. You know, progress. Stuff the rich doesn't realize will benefit them until the trickle-up comes into sharp relief down the road. I know that's a lot for one day, but if he can make some strong speeches and put staffers to work on those things, they'd be worked on after that day.
173. What star sign are you and what is your sign like?
Sagittarius, and we're all individuals.
174. Did the Blair Witch Project scare you?
I didn't watch it.
175. Are you in constant fear of death?
Nope.
176. Does fear of death keep you from building a life?
Nope.
177. Do you like all your movies to be in wide-screen?
I prefer it, but I'm not super picky.
178. Are you a fan of any comic books?
I like the Runaways series.
179. At what age did you attend your first funeral?
Twelve...I think.
180. What do you smell like (lotion, cologne, sweat)?
Soap and shampoo, I suppose.
181. What are your greatest sources for wisdom?
Books!
182. When you were little, where did your parents tell you babies come from?
I don't remember.
183. What is your favorite band?
ELO.
184. What's the best cheesy 80's song?
I couldn't pick just one, and I like most 80's music.
185. What's the best kind of movie to see on a date?
Something both/all like. Doesn't have to have romance in it.
186. Do you like to sit in the front, middle or back of the Movie Theater?
Middle to back, so I don't have to strain my neck.
187. Have you ever been inside an abandoned building?
I probably have, though I can't remember one in particular at the moment.
188. Under what circumstances would you agree to work for free?
Volunteer work. Or if I were super-rich by inheritance or gift.
189. Candles or strobe lights?
Depends on the situation. I like candles better aesthetically though.
190. Do you think the Lord of the Rings movies are true to the books or did Hollywood change the story too much?
Hollywood changed too damn much! I almost didn't finish watching the movies.
191. When you see a stranger on the street does your first reaction lean towards thinking of this person as a potential friend or as a potential threat?
If the person is male, threat. Female, depending on appearance I try not to stare.
192. Is it natural for human beings to fear and distrust each other, or is it cultural?
I think it's natural. Caveman stuff, yanno.
193. What do you really want to buy?
A high-efficiency washer and dryer.
194. You have to choose. Would you be happier marrying someone rich for their money or living in the streets and subway tunnels with someone you love?
Definitely the latter! As I've told Chris and Fizzy, I'd rather live in a trailer with them than in a mansion with anyone else.
195. If someone wanted to understand you what book could they read that would help?
I don't think I could pick just one. A bunch of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine books would help, I suppose.
196. Do you think it’s odd that Americans have freedom of religion and yet call themselves 'one nation under god'?
That "freedom of religion" is mostly lip service. There are still states in which atheists can't serve on juries or hold public office. And we don't all call ourselves "one nation under God." Only the conserva-wankers do.
197. In what sense are you a minority?
I'm female, short, queer, atheist, and disabled (depression/anxiety, possibly Asperger's).
198. Are you anti social?
I try not to be.
199. Do you photograph well?
I'm okay at taking pictures. I'm not photogenic at all.
200. Do you think that human beings would survivor through a nuclear winter?
Could human beings survive? Possibly. There'd have to be underground bunkers or something to ride out the worst of the radiation though, I think.

Only problem is when the molecules are deconstructed the person is dead. When they are put back together it is only a clone that has all the dead person's memories. So...

Listened attentively.

CHRISTMAS.
67. What's the best joke you ever heard?
Your face.

Hell if I know.

5,000 Question Survey - 0021-0040
21. Are you more of a giver or a taker?
I try to be more of a giver--I give time, comments, gifts when I can, but I feel like more of a taker since I'm unemployed and supported by my husband.
22. Do you make your decisions with an open heart/mind?
Yes. I don't think I could close either even if I tried.
23. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you?
This weird shit thing that happened to my back the week before I went to boot camp. Something just...snapped...and I barely made it to my bed to lay down and hope it ended on its own because there wasn't really anything I could do besides attempt to get comfortable. At one point I had to pee so bad that I made the arduous trek (just a few meters, but might as well have been miles) to the bathroom and got back and looked up at the remote control just out of reach on top of the dresser, but knew I wasn't going to get up to get it because it hurt too much to move. The next several days it took forever to sit down and get up and while I'd had back problems since middle school (I'm rather top-heavy), my back has been worse since.
24. What is the most emotionally painful thing that has ever happened to you?
Dayne leaving. Nuff said.
25. Who have you hugged today?
My husband. :)
26. Who has done something today to show they care about you?
It's only 0633 and Chris left for work not too long ago, though I did get a hug and a kiss and an "I love you" before he left.

The third isn't really separable from the first two as far as I'm concerned.
30. What are the key ingredients to having a good relationship?
Trust and trustworthiness on both sides, genuine mutual affection, and an endless amount of stuff to talk about so that you never get bored.
31. What 3 things do you want to do before you die?
A. Go to a Jimmy Buffett by-the-bay concert and be in a raft/boat in the bay.
B. Go to a convention--Star Trek, anime, general geekery--I want to go! Many conventions, actually. :)
C. Get down to a healthy weight for my height and stay there.
32. What three things would you want to die to avoid doing?
A. Hurting Chris or Fizzy
B. ...or my parents.

5,000 Question Survey - 0011-0020
11. Have you ever taken martial arts classes?
Yes, most recently in 2009. It was fun, but some of the niceness tripped my crying problem, and some of the exercises made my back hurt A LOT.
12. Does your life tend to get better or worse or does it just stay the same?
It fluctuates between better and worse, though things have been about the same for awhile now.
13. Does time really heal all wounds?
All? No. Most? Probably.
14. How do you handle a rainy day?
Depending on how cold it is, go stomping in puddles!
15. Which is worse...losing your luggage or having to sort out tangled holiday lights?
Losing luggage, at least for me. I'm used to untangling complicated knots.
16. How is your relationship with your parents?
Pretty good. I'm not that good at keeping in touch, so sometimes I feel a little detached, but I love my parents and my step-parents and get along well with them. :)
Will you miss them when they are gone?
Well that's assuming they're not already. But no, my parents and step-parents are still around, all four of them, and yes, I would miss them. (I'd say "of course," but I know that "it is not of course to some of us.")
17. Do you tend to be aware of what is going on around you?
I tend to, or at least I try to be aware of what's going on around me. I'm not always successful at noticing everything, though.
18. What is the truest thing that you know?
I'm short.
19. What did you want to be when you grew up?
An artist (like Claudia!), an astronaut, a teacher, a publisher...
20. Have you ever been given a second chance?
I guess Chris gave me a second chance (the first being while we were best friends in high school) by waiting for me through the Jason and Dayne Sagas. I hope someday I'll be worthy of all he's felt and said and done for me.
Yes, most recently in 2009. It was fun, but some of the niceness tripped my crying problem, and some of the exercises made my back hurt A LOT.

5,000 Question Survey - 0001-0010
1. Who are you?
I'm Heather. Or Simone. Or orbitaldiamonds, still, sometimes.
2. What are the 3 most important things everyone should know about you?
I'm liberal. I'm atheist. I'm queer.
3. When you aren't filling out 5,000 question surveys like this one what are you doing?
I'm sleeping, or farting around elsewhere on LJ keeping up with my flist, or trying to spend more time at Dreamwidth, or chatting with Fizzy, or spending time with my husband, or listening to an audiobook or podcast while crocheting.
4. List your classes in school from the ones you like the most to the ones you like the least (or if you are out of school, think of the classes you did like and didn't like at the time).
My favorite classes were Latin, History, English (despite the teacher), French, and Science.
My least favorite classes were Math (except Geometry) and PE. Ugh, what a fucking waste of time PE is!
5. What is your biggest goal for this year?
To make a profit off my crocheted goods.
6. Where do you want to be in 5 years?
In Australia! Or stationed somewhere in the South.
7. What stage of life are you in right now?
Technically, the mother stage, since I'm neither maiden nor crone. Though I've never been pregnant.
8. Are you more child-like or childish?
I can definitely be both at times, but I'd say more child-like.
9. What is the last thing you said out loud?
I don't remember. It was hours ago. No, wait. I sang along with the radio on the way home. It was Bob Seger's "Turn the Page," but it was the inferior Metallica version.
10. What song comes closest to how you feel about your life right now?
Ya know, "Turn the Page" fits pretty well, actually. "Tubthumping" by Chumbawumba is one that fits my life most of the time.
I'm Heather. Or Simone. Or orbitaldiamonds, still, sometimes.

10. What song comes closest to how you feel about your life right now?
Ya know, "Turn the Page" fits pretty well, actually. "Tubthumping" by Chumbawumba is one that fits my life most of the time.
